Case Studies

"In my role as Equipment Manager, I have used the services of Shawcity for ten years for all of our gas monitor calibrations, services and repairs. The service engineers are always happy to answer queries and take time to talk me through issues over the phone. I find the whole Shawcity team extremely friendly and efficient. Nothing ever seems too much trouble, even when under pressure and working to tight deadlines."

HAV Continues, Despite Lockdown

Despite the lockdown across the country for the last six months, places of work have still been open in many cases, especially those involved in manufacturing, power generation and construction. And despite the focus on the pandemic, there has been a constant awareness of another potential workplace threat, which can be very much life-altering - hand-arm vibration.

We’ll Meet Again…

Events should be back for 2021 and all the indications are they should be safer and more sustainable than ever. September saw a definite shift in the UK, in terms of life returning to something closer to normality. Alongside schools and workplaces, the business events industry also started to re-open, albeit with a reduced and restructured offer and subject to local lockdown restrictions.

Vibration Regulations

The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations focus on the elimination or control of vibration exposure for employees. Using instrumentation, and the exposure action and limits provided, we can calculate the risks Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) pose to an individual.

PIDs & Banksmen

With the market for construction and land development growing in the UK, the list of contaminated sites that are being discovered also seems to be growing in tandem. Many contaminated sites across the UK hide high levels of harmful compounds that are a significant risk to human health and have been undisturbed for many years. Once work begins on these sites, it can affect not only the site workers, but also neighbouring businesses, residential areas and schools.
