Shawcity is delighted to report that, for a third year running, one of their products has been shortlisted for the Innovation Award at the Land Remediation event which is part of Contamination Expo, Europe's biggest exhibition for the contamination industry.
Supported by The Environment Agency, the event runs from 11th to 12th September 2019 at the NEC, Birmingham and is the premier platform for leading-edge solutions to widespread contamination of land, water and air. Three awards are presented during the event for groundbreaking Innovation, Land Management and Asbestos products and these prestigious accolades are designed to recognize cutting-edge technology.
The Shawcity product shortlisted by the judging panel is the GasClam 2, a unique in-borehole gas monitoring system developed for unattended collection of long-term, real-trend ground gas concentration data. It also collects data on the known controlling parameters – subsurface pressure, atmospheric pressure and water level.
Traditional spot measurements for ground gas regimes are often highly uncertain. Concentrations change over time, so spot sampling only provides snapshot data. An industry-recognised best practice approach to continuous ground gas monitoring, GasClam 2 offers optimised site management and cost-effective solutions.
GasClam 2 provides a full picture below ground. By observing the process controlling ground gas, insights on future changes can also be gained. It is ideal for brownfield site investigation, landfill perimeter monitoring and control, shale and coal bed methane/seam gas site monitoring, vapour intrusion studies, waste management, refineries and petroleum storage monitoring. Shawcity also has the largest hire fleet of GasClams in the UK for customers not looking to purchase.
The system offers multiple financial benefits: Reducing the number of field engineer site visits required; reduced overall length of monitoring programmes while still meeting legislative data requirements; appropriate, rather than over-engineered solutions based on complete and robust data.
Battery-powered deployment allows for an unprecedented three months’ continuous monitoring (depending on logging frequency), with an external power option for extended deployment. Instrinsically safe, GasClam 2 is also safe to use in explosive atmospheres.
The Shawcity team will be showcasing GasClam 2 throughout the two-day event. Additionally, the team will also be demonstrating an extensive range of monitoring detection instruments including VOCs, Benzene, Fixed Gas Detection Systems, Single Gas, Confined Space, Multi gas, Mercury, Sound, Noise, Vibration, Air Quality & Dust, Heat Stress and Fit Testing for personal, portable and fixed environmental applications.
The NEW SV 200A from Svantek, the very latest in noise monitoring stations for portable, mobile and permanent environmental noise monitoring, will be just one of the many innovative products on stand F35.
Aidan Hubbard, representing of one of Shawcity’s key manufacturing partners Svantek, will be also be speaking on behalf of Shawcity at the event on Wednesday from 11.45 to 12.15 in Theatre 29. Aidan will be discussing the importance of monitoring noise correctly, selecting the right equipment and managing cloud-based data.
