Shawcity Achieves Second Consecutive Contamination Expo Innovation Nomination

Shawcity is delighted to report that, for a second year running, one of their products has been shortlisted for the Innovation Award at the Land Remediation event, part of Contamination Expo which is Europe's biggest exhibition for the contamination industry.

Supported by The Environment Agency, the event runs from 12th to 13th September 2018 at the NEC and is the premier platform for leading-edge solutions to widespread contamination of land, water and air. Three awards are presented during the event for groundbreaking Innovation, Land Management and Asbestos products and are prestigious accolades designed to recognize cutting-edge technology.

The Shawcity product shortlisted by the judging panel is the Quantifit fit testing system from OHD. Exclusively available from Shawcity in the UK and Ireland, Quantifit offers fit testing through controlled negative pressure (CNP) technology, offering multiple advantages over traditional aerosol particle counting fit test methods.

The fastest fit-tester available, Quantifit utilises simple air and controlled negative pressure to directly measure respirator leakage and, unlike other technologies, does not require consumables such as alcohol solutions, wicks and probes. It is therefore also not susceptible to contamination and is virtually maintenance-free. Quantifit can be used in any environment - indoor/outdoor, clean/dirty - as long as air is present, so unlike particle-counting methods there is no need for lighted candles, salt fog or filtration systems to generate particles to take measurements.

The Shawcity team will be giving live Quantifit demonstrations on stand 5M101 throughout the two-day event. Judges will visit stands over the course of the two days to gain a comprehensive understanding about each nominated product before deciding on an overall winner in each category.

Our Product Specialist Manager Peter Sherfield will also be presenting on 'Effective Monitoring of Hazardous Substances During Land Remediation' on Day 2 from 11.45-12.15 in Theatre 23. Various hazards are present during remediation works. Peter will look at some of the most common - including VOCs, vibration, particulate and dust - and the types of technology available to enable informed decision-making and reporting.

Shawcity will also be showcasing GasClam 2, the very latest in ground gas monitoring technology. GasClam 2 is a unique in-borehole gas monitoring system developed for unattended collection of long-term, real-trend ground gas data. Intrinsically safe, it measures methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations as well as atmospheric pressure and temperature. Optional carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide and VOC monitoring, plus water depth, are available along with a telemetry module for remote real-time data communication.

We also have the largest hire fleet of GasClams in the UK, ideal for land remediation as well as applications such as landfill sites, brownfield sites, filling stations, disused coal mines, refineries, petroleum/solvent storage and below ground carbon capture and storage.
