Shawcity Expands Fixed Gas Detection Business

Health and Safety Never Stops, Despite Pandemic Restrictions

Health and safety across so many applications never stops in terms of providing vital products and services, no matter what the circumstances. During the pandemic, many businesses have battled to function effectively under difficult conditions, with many facing site restrictions including closure to visitors and even contractors.
These same organisations have also had the challenge of continuing to develop new projects, due to start following the lockdown period. Typically, this growth and expansion has been years in the planning, and this has been especially applicable for Shawcity and many of their customer base.

Shawcity's End-to-end Offering: Design, Installation and Maintenance of Fixed Gas Systems

Over the last twelve months Shawcity has won several new key contracts for delivery during 2021 and 2022. As gas detection specialists, Shawcity has been designing, installing, commissioning and servicing fixed gas detection systems for nearly twenty years. One of these new contracts amounts to a £250k+ order for a fixed gas detection system at Olympic Park, Stratford.

Working with Industry-leading Manufacturers on Breathtaking Large-scale Fixed Gas Projects

At the start of 2020, Shawcity also announced a new distribution partnership with a well-known UK gas detection manufacturer. The new extensive product range and system features combined with Shawcity’s industry expertise has proven to be a fitting combination which allowed Shawcity to win this large contract.

The final system design is in excess of 200 sensors monitoring, O2, CO, CO2, NH3 & LEL across the two main laboratory floors within the ten-storey building.

The detailed system offers many auxiliary features such as sounder beacons to control entrances and exits, panic buttons and also the ability to control solenoid valves on the gas feed pipelines in the event of a leak or alarm.

Several control panels will be used on each laboratory floor and Shawcity will install a local area network so that these control panels communicate back to a centralised location on the ground floor to offer real-time overall system data, as well as local alerts.

The system is due to commence throughout Q3 and Q4 later this year, with the remainder installed and commissioned during the first half of 2022.

Expansion Following the Success of 2020

Shawcity has made a considerable investment in our Fixed Gas Detection team expansion over the last twelve months and we now have a team of field engineers and a fleet of vans supporting our customers across the UK and Ireland providing surveys, installations and service contracts.
